This book came about because as a community living and working in the UK, most of us felt the need
to show our work to the wider public and, in doing so, assess how we have developed over the past twelve years.
Of course, this is not the first catalogue we have produced since our Association (APA) was founded in 1956. In all there have been about five catalogues published, the last one in 2002.
Our work is shown twice a year in the POSK Gallery, located in the Polish Social and Cultural Centre in Hammersmith. Many of our artists also exhibit their work regularly in galleries in London and throughout the country.
This book is a comprehensive study, containing photographs of works submitted by approximately 2/3rds of our membership and accompanied by biographical notes personally written by them. It was our policy to retain their own very personal style of writing, which shows the individual character of our artists.
We hope our book will give you, the reader, a good example of the richness and diversity of work created by Polish artists working in Britain, and also gives you as much pleasure, as we have had in producing it.
